This compound is a hydrophobic organ metallic compound and insoluble in alcohol and ether, like polar solvents. It is very popular with vast industrial uses including soaps and plastics. But, this compound is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons like: benzene and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Zinc Stearate also shows the most powerful mold release agent among all metal soaps. It has no electrolyte while shows hydrophobic effect. Its melting point is 130 °C.
Zinc Stearate improves the near the beginning color when used in PVC. It also gives quality lubricating action. When included in PVC, Zinc Stearate is combined with another compound i.e. Calcium stabilizer.
Zinc Stearate Uses:
Polystyrene and A.B.S. as lubricant and / or dispersant.
The paint industry as a matting agent / grinding agent.
