This compound is an unsolvable salt of stearic acid , calcium, and palmatic acid. The role of hard water is useful for the formation of this one compound. In first phase, it interacts with soap of calcium ions then it is formed calcium stearate. Calcium stearate is non-toxic compound. In industrial domain, it has many applications as lubricant and stabilizer. In addition water, it is unsolvable in acetone, cold alcohol, ether and chloroform. However, it is a little soluble when dissolved in hot alcohol, vegetable and mineral oil.

The use of calcium stearate is widely useful as a stabilizer for PVC resins. It also helps to develop lubricant for plastic moulding powders or tablets.
